The sit-in at the Martyr Rustem Judy Camp (Makhmour) has entered its fifth consecutive day, as residents protest the ongoing siege, arrests, and severe restrictions on the camp. They are calling for the release of the People's Council delegation, which remains detained in Baghdad despite earlier promises of release on May 15.

The protesters have confirmed that they will not end their protest until their demands are met, while the Iraqi authorities continue to ignore their promises to resolve the crisis.

This sit-in comes amid escalating restrictions on the camp. Since April 10, Iraqi forces have imposed a suffocating siege, blocking the entry of food supplies, hindering the movement of workers, and preventing the renewal of residents' official documents.

The camp had previously endured a similar siege by the Kurdistan Democratic Party, further compounding the suffering of its residents.
