Local factions launch counterattack in Sweida

Local factions in Sweida launched a counterattack against forces affiliated with the Syrian transitional government from several directions. Israel also targeted a gathering of these forces near the police headquarters building in the center of Sweida city, two hours after a bombardment targeted another gathering near the Criminal Security Branch building, resulting in deaths and injuries.

Local media reported that armed factions in Sweida are currently launching a counterattack on several fronts in Sweida city.

Suwayda 24 reported that violent clashes are taking place on several fronts in Sweida city, where violence has erupted again as a result of rising popular anger over the summary executions of unarmed civilians and violations committed by security forces affiliated with the Syrian transitional government, which stormed Sweida city.

In this context, an Israeli airstrike, carried out by a drone, targeted a gathering of the General Security Forces affiliated with the transitional government in Sweida, near the police headquarters building in the center of the city. This attack came two hours after another gathering near the Criminal Security Branch building was targeted, resulting in deaths and injuries.

Israeli aircraft also targeted a convoy of these forces at the western entrance to Sweida, killing one of its members. The death toll is expected to rise amid reports of injuries.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported in the past few hours that Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike targeting a tank belonging to these forces inside Sweida, completely destroying it.
