The Lebanese Army arrested 56 Syrian citizens, including refugees, for allegedly "wandering within Lebanese territory without legal identification documents.

The Lebanese Army announced on Friday that its units arrested 56 Syrian citizens in several areas across Lebanon "for roaming within Lebanese territory without legal identification papers."

An army statement reported that its units, supported by patrols from the Intelligence Directorate, carried out raids in Syrian refugee camps in Anfeh, Bishmizine, and Amioun (in the Koura district), arresting 31 individuals.

An army unit also arrested 18 Syrians at the Madfoun checkpoint in the Batroun district. The statement added that an Intelligence Directorate patrol also arrested seven Syrians in the Dora area in the Metn district.

The statement indicated that the arrests were made for roaming within Lebanese territory "without legal identification papers."

The army confirmed that an investigation has begun with the detainees under the supervision of the relevant judiciary.
