Leader Ocalan: Kurdish issue can be resolved through democratic unity 

The leader Abdullah Ocalan sent a message to the Democratic Unity Initiative on the occasion of its second regular general conference.

The Democratic Unity Initiative held its second regular meeting under the slogan "We will triumph through the spirit of unity" at the Ali Amiri Conference Hall in the Amed Metropolitan Municipality in North Kurdistan. The leader Abdullah Ocalan's message was read during the meeting.

The following is the text of the Leader's message to the General Conference:

"The Democratic national unity is based on the voluntary and pluralistic communities' will. This unity does not represent a model of a centralized, monolithic nation-state, but rather a social organization that derives its strength from the local level, is based on democratic participation, and derives its power not from authority, but from socialization.

The division of Kurdistan into four parts is a historical reality, and different methods and forms of unity can be developed, taking into account the unique circumstances of each part. Unity between the parts must be built on the concept of a democratic nation, not with the aim of establishing a centralized power structure.

The solution to the Kurdish question and democratic unity will only be logical if viewed in conjunction with the pursuit of freedom and peace for all peoples in Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Syria.

Lasting unity cannot be achieved by force, but rather through equality, mutual recognition, and a shared will to live together. Therefore, I believe it is essential to emphasize the foundation of democratic unity, and there is no doubt that democratic politics and democratic social organization are the fundamental path for these efforts.

I believe this conference will be an important step in strengthening the principles and goals of democratic unity.
