"Law, dignity" sit-in in Damascus to demand rule of law and combat corruption

ANHA's correspondent in Damascus reported that a number of Syrians, including intellectuals, civil society activists, and elderly citizens, participated in a sit-in under the banner of "Law and Dignity" in front of the People's Assembly building in Damascus, demanding the establishment of the rule of law and combating corruption.

Participants raised banners calling for the criminalization of sectarianism and holding those responsible for corruption and human rights violations accountable. They also emphasized the need to improve living conditions and address the suffering of the poor and displaced.

The protesters also focused on demands related to combating corruption and arbitrary dismissals, and achieving transitional justice, emphasizing that attracting investment and improving the economic situation are linked to guaranteeing security and justice for all.

The sit-in witnessed verbal clashes between some supporters of the interim government and the participants, who stressed their rejection of the return of authoritarianism in any form, calling for prioritizing the return of displaced persons and improving infrastructure and basic services instead of focusing on commercial projects.
