Kurdish researcher wins gold medal in international genetic engineering competition

Kurdish researcher Alan Semrand, from the city of Mahabad in East Kurdistan, won the gold medal as part of the University of Oslo team at the iGEM international genetic engineering competition, held in Paris and considered one of the world's most prestigious events in this field.

Semarand, a postgraduate student in the Department of Biology at the University of Oslo in Norway, contributed with his team to an innovative project that showcased his research and technical skills, enabling it to outperform dozens of participating teams all over the world.

This award affirms the scientific capabilities of Kurdish researchers in modern scientific fields and highlights their contributions to distinguished international research projects, opening up broad horizons for academic collaboration and scientific innovation on a global scale.
