Kurdish language songs echoed throughout Çil Agha

The songs and chants of students and teachers about the Kurdish language echoed around in celebration of Kurdish Language Day, which falls on May 15 of each year. The celebration expressed the extent of their connection to the mother language.

QAMISHLO

The School Management Committee in the city of Çil Agha in Jazera Canton organized a student march, in which hundreds of students from the three educational levels, teachers, and a number of students’ families participated, wearing their popular costumes.

The march started in front of the School Committee building with banners read, “Our language is our identity,” “Language is culture, “We congratulate the fifteenth of May, Kurdish Language Day.”

The student, Rohaif Saif Din, congratulated the participants and the people of the city on the Kurdish Language Day, and pointed out the importance of the language, specifically the Kurdish people.

She and her friends expressed their happiness in learning under their mother tongue, extending thanks to everyone who contributed to the resurgence of the Kurdish language in the July 19 Revolution.

The students' celebration ended with the chanting of the song "The Kurdish language is our language, the language of our people's existence."
