Kongra Star to join Kurdish Women's Union Platform

Reyhan Luqo, spokeswoman of Kongra Star and a member of the Kurdish Women's Union Platform—established on April 7 through a meeting with representatives from 24 women's organizations and political parties from the four parts of Kurdistan, under the framework of the “National Unity Meeting of Kurdish Women”—spoke to ANHA agency about their recent activities and the formation of the platform.

 Luqo emphasized that women's freedom is one of the central issues in the Middle East, highlighting the efforts led by Kurdish women in what the leader Abdullah Ocalan describes as the “Century of Women's Freedom.” She noted that this century will witness women's revolutions, as it already has, and that as Kurdish women in Rojava, they organized the first conference of Kurdish women in Rojava to develop a unified stance during this critical historical period in Syria.

 Luqo stated that, as representatives of women from Kurdistan and abroad, they held a meeting this April in Sulaymaniyah, in Southern Kurdistan. During the meeting, they evaluated the outcomes of Kurdish women’s work in all parts of Kurdistan and abroad. They also discussed the current political situation in Kurdistan, the ongoing changes, the leader's call for “peace and a democratic society,” and his March 8th message to women.

 Establishing a Platform to Strengthen Communication

 Luqo noted the establishment of a joint women's platform in Kurdistan aimed at national efforts and activities. She explained that the platform, named the “Kurdish Women's Union Platform,” includes 21 women from Kurdistan and abroad. She said:

“Through this platform, we will be able to organize various cultural, artistic, literary, political, and organizational activities together and share our impactful experiences. For example, we can organize a Kurdish women’s festival through the platform and carry out other initiatives at both the societal and national levels.”
