KOBANI

The Martyrs' Families Council and captives' families in Kobani organized a vigil at the Free Woman Square in support of captives held by the Syrian Interim Government.

The participants carried photos of the captives and banners with "Where is my father?", "I want my son," "I want my brother," "Freedom for the captives," and "Our hearts are with you, our captives" written on.

During the vigil, a statement was read by Mohamed Bouzi; the co-chair of the Martyrs' Families Council in Kobani, which included: "We are committed to the path of peace and reassurance. We send our message to the peoples of the world; we want our detainees released so they can return to their city and their families."

The statement made clear: "We have hundreds of detainees, but they have not yet been released. This phase will only be resolved with the release of our captives, which will end the pressure on Kobani. During these blessed days of Ramadan, we want all our captives to return to their families and spend these holy days among their families."

The statement called for the immediate release of captives and the handover of the martyrs' bodies before Eid al-Fitr, stressing: "It is our fixed stance and we demand the release of our captives and the handover of our martyrs' bodies. We call on human rights organizations to exert pressure on the Interim Government to release our captives before Eid, so that they may return to their families, and to hand over the bodies of our martyrs to us."
