KOBANI

Residents of Kobani organized a celebration on Sunday to mark World Kobani Solidarity Day, under the slogan: "In memory of the heroic martyrs, 1 November, World Kobani Day." The event featured speeches stressing the importance of safeguarding the gains of the resistance, alongside artistic performances.

The celebration began with a minute of silence in tribute to the martyrs. Farhan Haj Issa then delivered a speech on behalf of Kobani's residents, congratulating them on the occasion and commemorating the sacrifices of those who defended the city and helped liberate it from ISIS mercenaries.

Haj Issa said that 1 November was not merely a date on the calendar, but a reminder of the epic resistance waged by Kobani's residents against the attacks in 2014.

He added that the city's steadfastness had made it a global symbol of resistance and dignity. He concluded: "Kobani is our city, and we must safeguard the gains achieved through this resistance."

Speaking on behalf of the women's movement, PYD Co-chair Perwin Youssef highlighted the leading role women had played in the resistance and the gains they had achieved. She said that the resistance in North and East Syria had become a beacon for the Middle East.

Youssef recalled the violations committed by ISIS mercenaries against women and children, as well as the destruction they inflicted on the city. She stressed that the courage of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) fighters and the People's Protection Units (YPG) fighters had made Kobani a launching point for confronting and defeating the organization.

She called for safeguarding the gains of the revolution and continuing the struggle in the spirit of 1 November to achieve further victories.

The celebration continued with artistic performances by Golden Sun artist Nûrîn Ararat and singer Khalil Can, and concluded with chants saluting Kobani's resistance and calling for women's freedom.
