The Language, Culture and Education Committee of KNK issued a statement yesterday, congratulating the world on Mother Language Day, which stated:

“The Kurdish language is a very old language in the Middle East, where the attacks on our people throughout history were a reason to survive and protect our characteristics and differences, especially after the division and occupation of Kurdistan and the control of foreigners, as a result of the Lausanne Agreement."

In this regard, it is the duty of international institutions and human rights not to remain silent regarding this injustice practiced by Turkey and Iran and the pressures of using the mother tongue on the peoples and communities within the borders of these two countries.

The rapid changes and revolutions that the world is witnessing and the revolution of communications and electronic devices have directly affected the language and brought it to another level, and this can be used in a positive way. In this regard, the Kurdish language is the leader and has a good and great foundation. Therefore, the Kurdistan National Congress thanks all the efforts of individuals and institutions working in this field. It is also the duty of the Regional Government (Southern Kurdistan) and the Autonomous Administration of Rojava Kurdistan to develop plans and actions together and protect the Kurdish language."

KNK is ready to support these actions and is constantly trying to bring the dialects of the Kurdish language closer together, protect and develop it, just like this year, on February 21, in coordination with the Kurdish Academy, a meeting of a committee composed of four members from each of the four parts of Kurdistan will be held. We have implemented many activities with Kurdistan universities in the past years.

We congratulate all Kurds on International Mother Language Day, and we hope that our language will always remain one of the leading languages in the world."
