A mercenary from the ISIS mercenary cell that attacked an Internal Security Forces checkpoint in the North and East of Syria region was killed, as a result of his injuries when the Internal Security Forces confronted the cell.

The Internal Security Forces announced a short while ago on its official website via a statement the killing of an ISIS mercenary who, along with other mercenaries within a cell, attacked one of its checkpoints in the southern countryside of al-Jazira Canton.

At first, the security forces mentioned the details of the attack and its date: "At dawn on Monday, January 20, 2025, a terrorist cell consisting of five individuals attacked one of our forces' checkpoints located on the road linking the cities of al-Hasakah and al-Shaddadi, where they used live ammunition in an attempt to target members of the checkpoint."

It pointed out how the attack was dealt with, "Thanks to the vigilance of our forces and their rapid response, the attack was repelled, resulting in the injury of one of the members of the terrorist cell, named "Raed Fawaz al-Ali" with varying injuries. He was immediately arrested and transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment."

The Internal Security Forces announced, "But we inform you that the named Raed Fawaz al-Ali has passed away due to his wounds."

The Internal Security Forces confirmed, "Our forces will continue to perform their duty in protecting the security and stability of the regions of north and east Syria, and we will work with all determination to confront any threats targeting the safety of our people."
