KDP continues to conceal fate of journalist Suleiman for 85th day in a row

Journalist Suleiman Ahmed's lawyer previously revealed to ANHA agency that the Dohuk Asayish prevented his lawyer from meeting with their client, and his file is with the intelligence service of the party that kidnapped him more than two months ago.

The lawyer Nariman Ahmed Rashid, confirmed that the charges against him are false and baseless. Because Suleiman officially entered Rojava and returned from there, and has official residency in southern Kurdistan, so he had no legal problems until he was kidnapped.

The lawyer added: “ We visited the Asayish in Dohuk several times, but they did not allow us to meet him.”

Suleiman's mother appeals AANES

In an interview with ANHA agency, the mother of journalist Suleiman Ahmed, Sultana Ahmed, appealed to the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to intervene in his file, as he is a citizen of North and East Syria.

The Mother Sultana noted that the kidnappers, members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, have been preventing her from communicating with her son for nearly 3 months.

Sultana Ahmed confirmed that her son had been carrying out his journalistic duties and work for more than 5 years in the city of Sulaymaniyah in southern Kurdistan, and that his arrest by the Kurdistan Democratic Party was unjustified, and demanded his immediate release in order to achieve justice.

What actions does Roj News intend to take?

In a written statement from Roj News Agency in response to ANHA agency’s questions, the agency confirmed that it will continue working on Suleiman Ahmed’s file to release him, by using the Iraqi constitution and following the systems of laws that exist in southern Kurdistan.

The agency confirmed that it will work to "prepare a complete file regarding the actions of the Kurdistan Democratic Party towards the press and journalists and violations of the laws and the constitution, in addition to placing the case of Suleiman Ahmed at the forefront of the file."

Worth to note that the journalist Suleiman works as an editor in the Arabic section at Roj News Agency, he had gone to visit his family in the city of Aleppo on October 1, after the death of his father, Muhammad Ahmed.

During his return from Syria, KDP has kidnapped him at the Faysh Khabur crossing since 85 days ago.
