The convening of the 12th Congress of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) marks a significant political moment in the trajectory of the Kurdish movement, drawing widespread popular and official attention due to the potentially decisive decisions that may emerge from it.

This event comes at a sensitive regional time, where local and international developments intersect with the aspirations of the Kurdish people. This makes the congress the focus of observers and analysts who expect it to carry political and strategic messages that could influence the Kurdish and regional landscape as a whole.

In this context, the Director of the "Kurds Without Borders" Center, Kadar Piri, spoke to ANHA agency and emphasized: “Turkey must be serious and take practical steps at the constitutional level and in terms of guaranteeing personal and public freedoms. The leader must be outside any prison or detention center, as well as all political leaders and individuals detained for their political opinions or freedom of expression, especially those who have shown solidarity with the Kurdish cause.”

Piri added: “If Turkey truly wants good for both Turks and Kurds, it must resort to peace and solve the Kurdish issue. The impact of this will be positive, not 100% or 1000%, but a million percent, for everyone living in Turkey and all its components, including Kurds, Turks, Arabs, and others.”

He also pointed out that “solving the Kurdish issue within Turkey would uplift its economy and allow the country to focus on vital issues such as services, culture, and social development, everything that benefits the people of Turkey. All the money currently being spent on militarization and on efforts to suppress the Kurdish people and their cause could instead be redirected to serve both the Kurdish and Turkish peoples.”

Kadar Piri concluded by saying: “The ball is in Turkey’s court now, and they must seize this historic opportunity before more blood is shed.” He continued, “They should not waste this opportunity, or there will be more and more bloodshed, and it could mark the end of this so-called Turkey.”
