The Kong Star Council issued a written statement regarding the massacre of the Al-Taba'aen school in the Gaza Strip, which was attacked by Israel on Saturday (10 August), killing more than 100 Palestinians and injuring dozens of others.

The text of the statement reads:

"As the war in Gaza has been going on since October 7, 2023, we have witnessed another devastating attack as part of the ongoing wave of violence. The Al- Taba'aen school, which housed refugees fleeing conflict zones east of Gaza City, was horrifically bombed. The attack killed more than 100 civilians, including women and children.

The targeting of civilians, women and children in shelters and schools is one of the most heinous war crimes, and we condemn this massacre in the strongest terms. The war in Gaza does not contribute to the freedom of societies, nor to the future of women or peoples, but only serves the interests of the rulers and seeks to protect and expand their influence.

In this context, at the K. Star, we express our full solidarity with the people of Palestine and all oppressed peoples fighting for freedom and justice. We, the women of Rojava, North and East Syria, have created a democratic system for a multicultural society in the region, seeing in women and democratic forces the real hope for democratic transition and peaceful solution. We categorically reject war and massacres, as we realize that solutions do not come through violence, but through the concept of brotherhood of peoples and just peace.

The nation-state system has brought great suffering to the Palestinian and Jewish peoples, both past and present. Therefore, we believe that freedom is achieved through the vigorous struggle of the people and women, and through democratic and peaceful understanding. We call on all oppressed peoples and democratic forces, especially the women of the world, to engage in the struggle and show unity against this injustice.

The silence of the international community and political parties must be broken in the face of this war, the increasingly brutal and the killing of civilians. The war must be stopped, and the focus must be on achieving a just and lasting peace that ends the long-running conflict. It is no longer acceptable for international institutions to ignore these crimes against humanity and must be held accountable for this massacre."
