The Kongra Star Council issued a written statement regarding the death sentences carried out by Iranian authorities against detained female activists and politicians, most recently against Kurdish activists Bakhshan Azizi and Warisha Moradi.

In its statement, the Kongra Star declared that the Iranian regime, with its authoritarian and oppressive mindset, continues its repressive policies against anyone who speaks the truth, demands freedom, or rises against its governance and injustice, especially against resisting women, through systematic methods that fuel capitalist modernity in the Middle East.

The statement pointed out that the protests that swept across Iran, turning into the "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising, are the biggest testament to this reality.

Popular protests, led by women, erupted across East Kurdistan and expanded to include Iranian cities following the killing of the young Kurdish woman Jina Amini by Iran’s morality police in mid-September 2022, under the pretext of not adhering to the hijab.

The statement explained that the death sentence against activist Bakhshan Azizi, issued by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court and upheld by the Iranian Supreme Court, has exposed the blatant reality of the Iranian regime, which seeks to cover up its external crises by intensifying its internal oppression with brutality and persecution of the people and women.

It emphasized that Bakhshan Azizi is regarded as "a symbol of the resisting and struggling woman against the machinery of repression," as she reaffirmed through her words: "There is no freedom without sacrificing life. Our crime is our attachment to 'Women, Life, Freedom.'”

The Kongra Star Council called on women and society to escalate the struggle and resistance against oppressive regimes, repressive policies, and policies of extermination. It announced its commitment to continuing "our activities in all forms until the death sentence is abolished and the policy of extermination and persecution by forces hostile to women's will and societies demanding freedom is ended, as postponing the execution is not a fundamental solution to Bakhshan’s case."
