Since yesterday morning, transitional government forces stationed at checkpoints along the Deir Hafer–Aleppo road abducted Kurdish citizen Haifa Tayyar, originally from the city of Kobani. She was on her way to visit relatives in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo, and her fate remains unknown.

In response to this incident, Kongra Star in Aleppo issued a public statement today at the 8 March Meeting Hall located in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo. The statement was delivered in the presence of dozens of K. Star members alongside representatives from various women's movements and organizations.

The statement was read by Fahima Hamo, a member of the K. Star Coordination Committee in Aleppo.

The statement highlighted that "women’s lives are at risk, especially across the Syrian geography, which is witnessing instability due to the policies practiced by the ruling authority that views women in a diminished light and seeks by all means to instill fear in women to prevent their participation in social and political life."

It added that "this intimidation is carried out through pressure on women and girls, particularly through attempted rapes and abductions, including the recent rape of a girl from the Salhab area, as well as the abduction of a girl named Haifa Adel Tayyar from Kobani while passing through checkpoints affiliated with the Public Security in Deir Hafer during her journey to Aleppo to visit her family and relatives."

The abduction was described as a crime added to a series of crimes committed against Syrian women in Sweida, the Syrian coast, and areas under their control.

The statement condemned all crimes against Syrian women and rejected all forms of violence and violations against women throughout Syria, holding the international community and the transitional government responsible for these crimes. It demanded an end to these crimes, accountability for the perpetrators, and the immediate release of all abducted and forcibly disappeared women.

The statement affirmed that "K. Star will be the voice of women confronting injustice and tyranny, uniting their voices against anyone who opposes women and stands in their way toward achieving a democratic Syria that embraces diverse sects and components."
