In an interview with ANHA, Ibrahim Şêxo, member of the Human Rights Organization in Afrin, Syria, spoke about the construction of 13 settlements by the Qatar Red Crescent in N. Syria. He questioned the purpose behind these settlements, the validity of the claims made by these organizations and Turkey, and the situation of the displaced people from Afrin in this context.

Şêxo pointed out Turkey's efforts to change the demographics of the occupied Syrian areas with support from Qatari and Brotherhood organizations. He stated that Turkey collaborates with these organizations to build settlements in the occupied areas under various pretexts.

Şêxo said, "Syrians were displaced from their homes, and their areas were occupied. If the goal of these Kuwaiti and Qatari organizations was genuinely to provide assistance, then why are they changing the demographics of these areas? In my opinion, they aim to displace the local population and break their will. These organizations are building settlements in Afrin under the guise of providing help, but in reality, they are altering the city's demographics."

Şêxo highlighted the objective of the Qatar Red Crescent's construction of 13 settlements in N. Syria in collaboration with the Turkish occupying state, saying, "The Qatar Red Crescent's goal in building 13 settlements in N. Syria is to change the identity and demographics of the occupied areas. More than 40 settlements have already been built in Afrin."

He also shed light on the recent construction by the Turkish occupation of a settlement named "Humanity" on the site of a Kurdish village in Al-Bab, consisting of 143 housing units. He continued, "In Afrin, mercenaries’ families have seized over 7,000 homes and 10,000 commercial premises belonging to the people of Afrin."

Şêxo mentioned that the Turkish state displaced 300,000 people from Afrin to Shahba after occupying it, stating, "The Turkish state settled outsiders from Ghouta, Daraa, Idlib, Azaz, Al-Bab, and even Palestinians in the homes of Afrin residents. Their goal is to displace the remaining of indigenous inhabitants and change the identity of Afrin."

He concluded his remarks by calling on the Qatar Red Crescent and all organizations cooperating with Turkey to cease participating in the construction of settlements and committing unethical and illegal acts. He stated, "By building these settlements, they are changing the identity of Syria and Afrin, which is a crime.”
