Israeli website reports on US push to resume Israeli-Syrian talks

Sources told the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation that talks between Israel and Syria may resume after months of suspension, amid US pressure to advance the negotiating track between the two sides, with the aim of involving the head of the Syrian interim government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, in efforts to weaken Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Informed sources told the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) that talks between Israel and Syria are expected to resume under pressure from the United States, after months of stagnation and for the first time since the war with Iran.

According to Kan, direct contacts between the two sides are expected to resume through a parallel track to the ongoing talks between Israel and Lebanon.

The sources indicated that US President Donald Trump is seeking to advance these talks with the aim of involving the head of the Syrian interim government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, in efforts to weaken Hezbollah's influence and capabilities in Lebanon.

However, the sources noted that this initiative has not yet received public support from any of the parties involved, as neither al-Sharaa, Israel, nor Lebanon has officially endorsed it.
