For the first time, Israeli journalists published images depicting Israeli army soldiers lighting the first candle of the Hanukkah menorah in the Mount Hermon heights, in the Syrian part of the area, specifically in the countryside of Quneitra.

The photos were accompanied by the caption “Lighting the Hanukkah lights on the summit of Hermon,” the name used by Israel to refer to Jabal al-Sheikh.

Hanukkah, also known as the “Festival of Lights,” is a Jewish religious holiday that lasts for eight days.

No official comment has been issued by the Syrian side regarding the circulated images, as Israeli incursions into Syrian areas continue, amid Syrian and international silence over the ongoing field developments in and around the Golan.
