Southern Syria has witnessed escalating tensions, with two Israeli patrols penetrating various areas of the Quneitra countryside, amid gunfire and widespread fires. Meanwhile, a mass demonstration erupted in the town of Tasil in the western Daraa countryside, rejecting the return of former ISIS mercenaries.

Local sources reported that an Israeli patrol entered the village of Ain Ziwan in the southern countryside this morning, followed by gunfire from the western Tal al-Ahmar area, for unknown reasons. Earlier, another patrol penetrated northward toward the Ain al-Bayda junction, setting up a temporary checkpoint before withdrawing.

Major fires also broke out yesterday west of the villages of Brega and Bir Ajam, as a result of Israeli forces firing on agricultural lands. This resulted in the destruction of large areas of trees and vegetation, amidst the lack of an official response.

In Daraa, dozens of residents of the town of Tasil demonstrated, demanding the departure of former ISIS mercenaries who recently returned to the town. They asserted that their presence poses a threat to its security, especially since some of them have joined the security forces of the Syrian transitional government.

Furthermore, the Syrian Observatory documented the deaths of 16 people in areas controlled by the Syrian transitional government over the past 24 hours, including victims of individual crimes, armed attacks, and landmine explosions, reflecting the continued fragility of the security situation in these areas.
