Israeli incursion into Daraa countryside, shelling on Quneitra countryside

The southern Syrian region was subjected to new shelling that hit the countryside of Quneitra, coinciding with a new Israeli incursion into the countryside of Daraa and searches of civilian homes, amid continued Israeli military activity in the area.

An Israeli military force, comprising around 15 military vehicles, entered the village of Maariya in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa at dawn today. The force deployed in the eastern part of the village and searched several civilian homes.

According to information received, the Israeli force entered Maariya from its military base at Al-Jazeera Barracks, located on the outskirts of the village, amid tension and fear among residents. No information was immediately available on the outcome of the searches or the reasons behind the incursion.

The new incursion comes amid continued Israeli military activity in western Daraa countryside, including incursions into villages, the establishment of military posts, searches of residents’ homes, the imposition of field measures on them, and the detention of Syrians.

In Quneitra Governorate, Israeli forces simultaneously shelled agricultural land around Al-Mantara Dam, with at least two shells landing in the area. No casualties were reported.

Over the past 24 hours, Israeli incursions have been reported in several areas of the Daraa and Quneitra countryside, accompanied by measures against residents, amid continued escalation and Israeli military activity in southern Syria.
