Yesterday, Monday, a group of settlers entered Syrian territory and attempted to lay the cornerstone for the establishment of the first settlement, according to Israel’s i24 channel.

The settlers entered the area with their children, but the Israeli army intercepted them after detecting several civilian vehicles coming from the border town of Aloni Habashan into Syrian territory.

i24 reported that the group of settlers is called "Pioneers of Habashan," named after the biblical term for the Golan Heights and southern Syria. The group believes it has a "religious and historical right to the heights and surrounding lands."

Reports indicated that the settlers had planned to remain in Syrian territory for an extended period with their children and establish a new settlement named "Navi Habashan," meaning the Habashan settlement.

The Israeli military administration issued a statement saying: "The Israeli army safely returned the civilians to the State of Israel shortly after," noting that the police are conducting investigations with them.
