Israeli forces released two young men from the Quneitra countryside today after arresting them following the shooting, according to local sources who spoke to ANHA correspondents. The release came two days after the incident, which took place in the buffer zone in southern Syria.

Israel’s public broadcaster reported on October 5 that Israeli forces opened fire on two young men who, according to the military, approached a military position in the buffer zone near Quneitra before arresting them.

According to Israeli media reports citing the military, the two men were riding a motorcycle and heading toward a military position. Israeli forces opened fire on them as part of what the military described as “procedures to detain suspects,” before arresting them and taking them for questioning.

One of the men was wounded by gunfire and taken to Ziv Medical Center in Safed for treatment. No Israeli soldiers were reported injured.

Israeli sources said the two men were unarmed and that the forces spotted them as they approached the military position in the buffer zone.

The incident came amid Israeli military activity in the Quneitra countryside, including incursions, the establishment of checkpoints, raids and detentions in several villages, as well as continued trench digging in other parts of the province.

Two days earlier, Israeli forces killed Mohammed Ayman al-Dabbour after opening fire on him near the village of Hamidiyah in the Quneitra countryside. His body was taken to the National Golan Hospital in Quneitra the day before yesterday.
