On Thursday, the Israeli army stated that it had arrested Hamas members last night during an operation in the Beit Jinn area of southern Syria and transferred them into Israel.

The army spokesperson wrote on his account on “X” that “fighters from the Alexandroni Brigade carried out an operation last night to arrest Hamas terrorists who were active in the Beit Jinn area in southern Syria.”

A statement issued by the Israeli army explained that the detainees were planning to launch attacks on Israeli civilians and military personnel inside Syria.

The statement added that the operation was carried out based on "intelligence gathered over the past few weeks against the terrorists who were attempting to promote several terrorist plots against Israel and the Israel Defense Forces."

It confirmed that the detainees were transferred into Israel for further investigation by Unit 504, and said that during the operation, Israeli soldiers found and confiscated firearms and ammunition magazines.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory had earlier reported that Israeli forces killed a Syrian and arrested others during their raid on the town of Beit Jinn in the western countryside of Damascus.
