The Israeli army announced today the start of wide-scale military exercises in the Mount Hermon area and the Shebaa Farms, as part of preparations for the possibility of security escalation with Hezbollah on the northern front. The exercises are a direct extension of a series of drills conducted by the Galilee Division over the past weeks.

According to the Israeli army statement, the exercises aim to raise combat readiness and strengthen coordination between ground and air forces through field scenarios that include:

- Dealing with attempted infiltrations from the northern border.

- Repelling potential attacks by hostile groups.

- Testing the efficiency of surveillance and early-warning systems in sensitive mountainous areas.

The Israeli army spokesperson said that large-scale drills would begin Sunday around Mount Hermon, involving extensive use of various weapons, infantry units, and armored units, aiming to “raise readiness and enhance the ability to deal with complex combat scenarios.”

These exercises come amid ongoing field changes in the region since the fall of the Baath regime on December 8, 2024, and only days after clashes erupted with local armed groups in the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside.
