In a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Ismail al-Sindawi, the representative of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Syria, said: "The strike occurred this afternoon and targeted a building housing the movement's Secretary-General, Ziad al-Nakhala. It is an old building with no residents or guards inside."

Al-Sindawi explained that the strike resulted in the destruction of the two-story building, while neighboring buildings sustained material damage.

Israeli aircraft bombed a building on the outskirts of Damascus, while two Syrian security sources told Reuters that the strike targeted a Palestinian.

One of the sources explained that the bombed building was the headquarters of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated that "the air force attacked Damascus, and we will not allow Syria to become a threat to Israel." The Israeli military has not yet commented, but the military correspondent for Israeli Army Radio reported that Israeli aircraft targeted the headquarters of the Islamic Jihad movement in Damascus.
