ISIS attacks gas field in Homs countryside; Russian air strikes on the desert

ISIS mercenaries attacked positions of the Damascus government forces near the Dbayat gas field in the eastern countryside of Homs, and as a result, violent clashes took place with heavy and medium weapons between ISIS mercenaries on the one hand, and members of the “18th Division” and “National Defense” on the other hand, which continued for hours while no information was received about there have been deaths or injuries so far.

Following the attack, Russian warplanes carried out air strikes on areas in the Sukhna desert in the Homs countryside, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The death toll during military operations within the Syrian desert, according to Observatory documents, has reached 243 dead since the beginning of the year 2024. They are: 37 citizens in ISIS attacks, 182 from Damascus government forces and groups loyal to it, killed in 94 operations by ISIS mercenaries within separate areas of the desert, it was carried out through ambushes, armed attacks and bombings in the desert of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Homs, and 24 ISIS mercenaries were killed by Damascus government forces and groups loyal to them.

Most of these attacks occurred in the desert areas of Deir ez-Zor and Homs.
