The Internal Security Forces in Hasakah Governorate have denied reports circulated on social media and other online platforms claiming that a group of ISIS-affiliated inmates escaped from a detention facility in Derik, describing the allegations as false and unfounded.

In a statement published on its official website, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces said the facility in question is not designated for ISIS detainees. It explained that the incident occurred at a temporary detention center housing individuals held on various charges, most of which are classified as misdemeanors.

According to the statement, 11 detainees managed to escape from the detention center. Security forces immediately launched a response operation and dealt with the incident swiftly, successfully apprehending 10 of the escapees. Efforts remain underway to locate and arrest the eleventh and final fugitive.

The Internal Security Forces stressed that its units remain on constant alert to preserve security and stability in the region. It also called on citizens and media outlets to verify information through official sources and avoid spreading rumors that could undermine stability and create public confusion.
