ISF discovers shells, explosive devices left by ISIS east of Deir ez-Zor

According to a statement published by the Media Center of the Internal Security Forces on its official website, "The General Security Apparatus successfully located a storage site containing shells and explosive devices left behind by ISIS in the town of Baghouz, east of Deir ez-Zor, on Friday, November 22."

The statement added, "As part of a series of security and intelligence operations conducted by our forces to eliminate terrorism at its roots, the General Security Apparatus found a stash containing shells and explosive devices left by the ISIS mercenaries during their control of the area. Our engineering units swept the site and uncovered numerous mortar shells and explosive devices hidden inside an abandoned house."

It further indicated that "the total number of discovered explosives included 70 mortar charges and three explosive devices ready for detonation. Our engineering units safely removed these materials without causing any harm to the forces or civilians. They were subsequently transported to a secure location designated for their safe disposal."

The statement highlighted that "the remnants of ISIS continue to pose a direct threat to the safety and security of citizens, even years after the organization's defeat. Our forces urge citizens not to approach or tamper with any suspicious objects and to immediately report any such findings to the nearest security centers to ensure proper handling and to protect the community from potential harm."
