Iranian authorities have arrested Soheila Khalidian, a 58-year-old Kurdish university professor and civil society activist, in the city of Sana, Eastern Kurdistan.

According to activists, Soheila Khalidian was arrested yesterday by Iranian authorities from her home in the city of Sana, Eastern Kurdistan, and taken to an unknown location.

The detained professor was a participant in the "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising that erupted across Kurdistan and Iran following the killing of activist Jina Amini by Iranian authorities. Soheila Khalidian had previously been arrested during these events by Iranian intelligence and later released.

According to human rights reports in Kurdistan and Iran, Iranian authorities arrested 130 women activists, imprisoned 232, and sentenced 41 women to conditional or disciplinary prison terms during the past year.
