Iranian activist Serunaz Ehmed on hunger strike for 28 days
Iranian activist Serunaz Ehmed has been continuing her hunger strike in Evin Prison for 28 days in protest of the authorities' refusal to grant her medical leave and proper treatment for her health conditions.
Serunaz, 28 years old, has been on hunger strike in Evin Prison for 28 days, protesting the denial of medical leave and adequate treatment for her health issues. Known for her consistent advocacy for women's and children's rights, Serunaz was arrested during the protests that erupted in 2022 under the slogan "Woman, Life, Freedom," in which she sought to improve the situation for women in Iran. She was sentenced to three years and six months in prison on charges related to "propaganda against the state."
According to a report by the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Serunaz Ehmed is suffering from serious health issues but has not received the necessary treatment or medication during her detention. Her health has deteriorated due to the hunger strike.
At the same time, solidarity calls for Serunaz have spread across social media, with many activists expressing their support for her right to receive proper medical care and treatment. They have also called on Iranian authorities to respect the rights of detainees and provide them with suitable conditions.
