Zeinab Jalalian, theKurdish political prisoner who was sentenced to life imprisonment by Iran and has been in prison for 17 years, was denied the right to visit her family on the instructions of the Ministry of Information.
Jalalian, who was transferred to Yazd Prison four years ago, has been able to see her family only once.
According to information provided by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), after Zeinab Jalalian requested to meet with her family at the beginning of last week, prison authorities said that visits were prohibited on the instructions of the Ministry of Information.
The family, who went from Maku to see Zeinab, was forced to return home without seeing her.
Zeinab Jalalian, who was tortured, suffers from oral thrush, pink eye, asthma, kidney and digestive problems, and many other diseases, but her requests for medical treatment were rejected many times for various reasons. After her health deteriorated, she was transferred to Forokh Hospital in Yazd on September 25, and despite all her objections, the prison authorities performed a CT scan on her while she was handcuffed.
A team of investigators from the Ministry of Intelligence met with Zeinab Jalalian twice in the security office of Yazd Central Prison, and asked her to sign a "letter of regret" prepared by the Ministry of Intelligence. The Ministry of Intelligence said, "If Zeinab Jalalian signs the document, she can be treated and even investigated in the matter of conditional release," but she refused to sign the document.
Zeinab Jalalian was also interrogated by the Ministry of Intelligence in November last year, to express her regret through a document. During the interrogation, she was threatened that she would be deprived of all her rights if she did not sign the document. Zeinab Jalalian, who refused to sign, said that interrogation in handcuffs was also torture.
