International Conference on Peace, Democratic Society kicks off in Istanbul

The International Conference on Peace and Democratic Society has begun in Istanbul, opening with a speech by the co-chairs of the People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM), followed by the reading of a message sent by leader Abdullah Ocalan to the conference participants.

The conference, organized by the DEM Party, is taking place at the Cem Karaca Cultural Center in the Bakirkoy district of Istanbul, with activities continuing today and tomorrow.

The event brings together a distinguished group of intellectuals and politicians from Kurdistan, Turkey, and several other countries, alongside the co-chairs of the DEM Party, Tuncer Bakirhan and Tulay Hatimogullari, as well as hundreds of other political and intellectual figures.

The conference opened with speeches by Tulay Hatimogullari, Tuncer Bakirhan, and Wisi Aktaş. Following the co-chairs’ address, Veysî Aktaş read the message sent by leader Abdullah Ocalan to the conference.

Additionally, the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Ilham Ahmed, will participate in the conference via video link.

The first session of the conference includes discussions and interventions under the theme “Prospects for Social Peace.”
