Internal Security investigates fatal shooting in Beit Awad

Tartous Internal Security announced today that it had opened an investigation into a shooting that took place on the outskirts of Beit Awad village in the Tartous countryside, leaving two people dead.

According to a statement, Special Operations patrols immediately headed to the scene, where they found that two young men riding a motorcycle had been killed after coming under direct fire from an unidentified vehicle.

The statement added that, after identifying the victims, they were identified as Ahmad Ramez Asbar and Ali Mahmoud Youssef.

According to the preliminary investigation, the statement said that “the individuals named above had criminal records and were affiliated with groups operating outside the law. They had previously been involved in armed robbery cases and attacks on citizens’ property using firearms in the Safita area.”

The statement confirmed that “the competent authorities are continuing their investigations and searches at the scene to collect evidence, uncover the circumstances of the incident, and identify those responsible in order to take the necessary legal measures.”
