Protesters in Aleppo attempted to march to Saadallah al-Jabiri Square in the city center on Wednesday to hold a demonstration demanding improved living conditions and complaining about the measures taken against them.

However, members of the Syrian Interim Government blocked their path near the Sakhoor Bridge and prevented them from proceeding, amid a heavy security presence in the area.

These protests come against the backdrop of ongoing controversy about the rudimentary oil refineries scattered across several Syrian regions, and the environmental and health damage they cause, while a segment of the population relies on them as a source of income given the country's difficult economic circumstances.
