Fayez al-Sheikh Nams; the prominent figure of al-Sadah al-Bu Salamah tribe and the member of the Hasaka Council of Elders, died in the prisons of the Syrian Interim Government in Damascus, after being detained along with his two sons since April 2025 on charges of belonging to "remnants of the regime."

Local sources reported that Sheikh Nams suffered from a lung condition during his detention, and his health deteriorated in the prison. The sources indicated that authorities released one of his sons some time ago, while the other remains in detention.

The sources added that the Syrian Interim Government authorities handed over Sheikh Nams's body to his family on Tuesday, as signs of torture were visible on his hands, sparking anger and resentment among residents of the area and the victim's relatives.
