With the fall of the Assad regime after lightning battles by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, several Syrian cities witnessed widespread chaos, violations, kidnappings and sectarian liquidations, with attempts to create strife among the components of the Syrian people and an escalation of sectarian discourse in Syria.

Syrian intellectuals, through virtual communication platforms and media platforms, called for unifying the Syrian ranks, rejecting sectarianism and stopping the spread of sectarian discourse, and they stressed that the historical stage that Syria is experiencing requires awareness and solidarity of the components.

Intellectual Turkia Al-Hamada from Tabqa canton said: “Syria in general is going through rapid political and military transformations, and this stage requires solidarity among the Syrian people, and deterring the strife that mercenaries are trying to ignite among the components and spectrums of the Syrian people.”

Turkey Al-Hamada pointed to the solidarity that the people of North and East Syria were able to achieve during the past years, and stressed that the revolution in the region adopted the democratic nation system, which brought together all components under one roof, far from sectarianism and nationalism, and this strengthened peace and stability in the region.

Turkey Al-Hamada said: "What falls on us as intellectuals in North and East Syria is to urge Syrian society to be fully aware and cognizant of these seditions and private wars that are likely to destabilize Syria."

Milad Fares, one of the intellectuals of Tabqa canton, said: "If we want to build a unified Syria, a new Syria far from war and destruction, far from racism and sectarianism, we must unite and stand together with all nationalities, and we must put aside the side differences and begin to resolve the major differences imposed on us by countries and global powers."

Al-Fares added: "We, the people of North and East Syria, live in great national and human solidarity, and we follow the principle of brotherhood of peoples and the approach of the thinker Abdullah Ocalan and the path of our martyrs, so we must not allow anyone to exclude a group from among us, as we are Syrians and against division and we hope for the existence of one Syrian force that pushes to build a new, unified, pluralistic and decentralized Syria."

For his part, cultural activist Osama Ahmed said: "What we need today after the fall of the Ba'ath regime is the solidarity of the Syrian people with all spectrums and components to lead a new phase and build a new Syria far from dictatorships and tyranny."

Al-Ahmad explained: "The political and military developments that Syria is witnessing today are positive things and there are negative cases that could lead the country into a new spiral and new complications, so the political discourse that we need today is the discourse that unites the Syrians and brings together their opinions."

At the end of his speech, Al-Ahmad stressed the importance of the autonomous administration project: "Democratic Autonomous Administration is a real and democratic experience that was able to bring together all components under the roof of the homeland and the general popular will without discrimination, as an experience that can be benefited from in the next stage to build Syria as a civilized, pluralistic, democratic state."
