Inciting graffiti found on Primary School walls in rural Damascus

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, unidentified people wrote “offensive phrases carrying an inciting and takfiri tone” on the walls of the Third Primary School located on Napoli Street in Jdeidet Artouz, rural Damascus.

The Observatory explained that the teaching staff and students were surprised to find graffiti containing insults and phrases targeting religious beliefs, which caused anger and condemnation among local residents. They considered these messages dangerous because they targeted an educational institution for children and called for undermining stability and civil peace in the town.

Residents called for tracking down those responsible and preventing similar actions that harm the school environment and contribute to spreading ideological chaos among teenagers and students.

The Observatory noted that Jdeidet Artouz had witnessed relative calm in recent periods, making such actions unusual for an area known for coexistence, amid fears that the graffiti may be an attempt to stir unrest and problems in the region.
