Imrali delegation issues statement on meeting with Turkish parliament speaker

Members of the Imrali Delegation of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, met with Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.

Following the meeting, the delegation issued a public statement, saying: "As the Imrali Delegation, we met today with Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş to assess developments regarding the legal steps within the Peace and Democratic Society process."

The delegation added: "The main item on the agenda was the current stage of the legal framework, which is also being closely followed by the public. During the meeting, we shared our expectations, views and hopes regarding the legal framework, which is considered of critical importance to the ongoing process, and stressed the need for it to be adopted before parliament enters its recess. The Speaker of Parliament stated that he shares the same approach regarding the legal framework, believes it should be enacted before the parliamentary recess, and will continue his efforts toward that goal."

The delegation concluded: "We would like to reiterate the importance of reaching consensus on taking swift steps to adopt the framework law and ensuring that parliament plays an active role in this process."
