Imam of mosque: Ramadan month for promoting love and peace

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Omar Al-Humaid, Imam and preacher of the Zain Al-Abidin Mosque and a member of the Endowments' Mosques Affairs Department, affirmed that Ramadan represents a great spiritual opportunity to strengthen the values ​​of mercy, brotherhood, and peace among members of society, far removed from hate speech and ethnic and nationalist prejudices.

In an exclusive interview with ANHA agency, Al-Humaid stated, "Ramadan is not merely abstaining from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. Rather, it is a month of mercy, forgiveness, and deliverance from Hellfire. It is during this month that the gates of Heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, as mentioned in the Prophetic tradition."

Al-Humaid emphasized that the path laid out by the Prophet Muhammad, based on mercy and good character, should be a guiding principle for Muslims in their daily interactions. He cited the verse, "And We have not sent you, except as a mercy to the worlds," and the Prophet's words in his Farewell Sermon: "Be, O servants of God, brothers."

Al-Humaid addressed the rapidly escalating events in Syria, particularly in the Jazera region, and warned against speeches inciting hatred, malice, and animosity, whether among Muslims themselves or towards non-Muslims. He stressed that "such calls have no connection whatsoever to Islam."

He added that the people of the region have lived for centuries in a state of brotherhood and coexistence between Muslims and non-Muslims, and that the month of Ramadan presents a genuine opportunity to reaffirm these values. And to strengthen the bonds of love between the different components.

He concluded his remarks with a prayer that God unite Muslims in brotherhood and love, purify their hearts from hypocrisy, their deeds from ostentation, and their tongues from falsehood, have mercy on the martyrs and all the deceased, and relieve the distress of the Muslim community.

He emphasized that Ramadan is a month of positive change for both the individual and society
