IDPs: Turkish displacement policies in occupied territories will be defeated

The displaced Vian Al-Ahmad, from the occupied city of Afrin, who now lives in Manbij, told ANHA agency: “The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries committed the most heinous crimes against the people of Afrin. They uprooted olive trees and sold them, and forcibly displaced residents from their homes without any mercy, with the aim of changing the demography of the region.

She added: "Citizens in the occupied areas suffer from murder and kidnapping. In the city of Afrin, there are many citizens who were kidnapped and to this moment there is no trace of them, in addition to the state of terror posed by the occupier, as a result of the lack of security and stability in that region."

She pointed out: "This land is our land, and we will not abandon it. No matter how much the Turkish occupation tries to target us, we will continue to struggle and resist until we liberate our city and regain our full rights."

The displaced, Natalie Youssef, said: “ The Turkish crimes are a continuation of what their ancestors were unable to do 400 years ago, and what their ancestors could not do, they will not be able to do now, because we are owners of the land and a cause, and we adhere to it and resist the occupation.”

For her part, the displaced Jihan Alo explained the crimes of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries against women in occupied Afrin: “People in the occupied areas cannot go out after sunset, for fear of attacks by the Turkish occupation mercenaries, who commit the most heinous crimes against civilians."

Jihan confirmed: “The occupation is displacing the indigenous population of the region with the intention of changing the demography of those areas, and to achieve the goals of the Ottomans who tried before, but were not able to achieve their goals, and today they will not be able to implement them either, because we cling to our land and will not give up our country, we will continue to resist until the end.”

“We defeated ISIS with our strength, and we will defeat the occupation as well.”

The displaced person, Abdul Hanan Al-Hussein, said: “The injustice of the Turkish occupation has reached the point that it prevents the remaining residents there from wearing their folkloric clothing,  even the names of the intersections, main streets, and schools in the city of Afrin were changed to names of the idea of the occupier in all the occupied areas of Jarabulus and Al-Bab. Afrin, Al-Shahba, Girê Spi, Serê Kaniyê, and others, to erase the culture of the components and link them to the occupation, and this is the largest process of demographic and intellectual change in the modern era.”
