IDPs from Serê Kaniyê demand safe return
The displaced people from Serê Kaniyê emphasized the urgent need to implement the June 1 agreement, particularly the clause regarding the return of displaced persons, as soon as possible. They stressed that their return must be secured with international guarantees.

On June 1, representatives from North and East Syria and the Damascus authorities met and agreed on four main points, one of which was discussing mechanisms to facilitate the return of displaced people to their areas and removing obstacles preventing their return. Displaced individuals from Serê Kaniyê spoke to ANHA Agency about this matter.
Kulistan Hajo clarified that the primary demand of all displaced people from Serê Kaniyê is to return to their lands and homes. "Our fundamental demand is to return to Serê Kaniyê must be under international sponsorship, as there is no safety or security in the occupied areas. Displaced people cannot return quickly, so this mechanism must be implemented to facilitate their return and remove obstacles as soon as possible. This agreement has restored hope for the displaced, and to achieve this, international organizations must play a major role in their return," Hajo said.
Ghazal Suleiman highlighted that they have been displaced for six years and face difficult conditions. She stressed the urgent need to return to their homes and lands, saying, "When we return, international organizations and human rights groups must protect us because Serê Kaniyê was occupied. To ensure safety, the rights of the people and the displaced must be protected, and this is the duty of all international organizations." She continued, "We have struggled and endured six years of displacement, suffering, and hardships in camps for the sake of returning to our lands and homes with dignity and honor. Our primary demand is to return to Serê Kaniyê."
Antar Aziz stated that they want to return to their lands under the protection of internal security forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces. He said, "The Autonomous Administration and Damascus agreed on four main points, one of which is the return of the displaced. This clause must be implemented as soon as possible. If we return, it must be with dignity and under international sponsorship."
Aziz noted that mercenaries continue to commit violations, including kidnappings, killings, and environmental destruction in many occupied areas, adding, "If the mercenaries’ violations do not stop and our areas are not liberated, we will not return. There must be a third party, as we do not trust the government’s policies, and this third party must be international."
"We hope for a safe return after six years"
Maryam Farhan affirmed that the sole wish of the displaced people of Serê Kaniyê is to return to their homes. She said, "Our only wish is for security to prevail upon our return so that we are not subjected to displacement or violations again. International parties must fulfill their duty and return us to our homes and lands."
