A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), visited the city of Kobani on Monday to assess the situation of displaced people in shelters.

The visit coincides with the ongoing siege imposed on Kobani by factions of the Syrian Interim Government, in its 35th day. These factions have prevented the access of food, medicine, and fuel to the city, which has received more than 200,000 displaced people as a result of attacks launched by these same factions on Tabqa, Raqqa, and Aleppo.

The delegation was received at the Autonomous Administration building of the Euphrates canton in Kobani by the co-chairs of the Autonomous Administration, along with representatives of the civil society organizations and service and health agencies in the city.

The ICRC delegation included officials from the health, relief, weapons contamination, and operations teams.

According to the delegation's allegations, the purpose of its visit was to assess the humanitarian situation and determine the amount of aid needed to meet the needs of the residents.

According to information obtained by ANHA correspondent, the delegation is scheduled to hold several meetings with the Autonomous administration and health sector institutions, in addition to conducting field visits that include all shelters, health centers and hospitals in the city, with the aim of identifying the difficulties and challenges faced by the residents and displaced persons.
