In one of the most violent attacks in Sweida, dozens of civilians lost their lives on Tuesday and Wednesday (July 15 and 16, 2025), following an attack launched by transitional government forces and "tribal" groups on towns and villages in the eastern and western countryside of Sweida, including al-Sahwa al-Gharbiyya (Balata), al-Kafr, Rasas, al-Mazra'a, Najran, and al-Majdal.

The attack, which included the use of heavy weapons, mass killings, kidnappings, and looting, claimed the lives of hundreds, including children, women, doctors, and lawyers, amidst deafening international silence and a clear disregard for warnings of a looming humanitarian catastrophe.
