HPG: Guerrilla Fighters will defend themselves against anyone who attacks them

The HPG Media Center issued a statement regarding the recent attacks on their forces over the past few days and their response in self-defense. The statement reads:

“In the Haftanin Region:

On January 21, at 15:30, the Turkish occupation state launched an operation in the resistance area of Keshan, alongside the Iraqi border forces in the area between the villages of Sheelan, Shoden, Soria, and Demka, using armored vehicles, attack helicopters, drones, and warplanes. In response, our forces exercised their legitimate right to self-defense, using small arms and hand grenades. According to the information obtained, one Turkish soldier was killed, and many others were wounded.

On January 24, at 07:15, the Iraqi border forces launched a ground operation while the Turkish occupation army carried out airstrikes in the resistance area of Keshan once again. The Iraqi forces attempted to encircle a group of our comrades, leading to clashes. In these clashes, two Iraqi border guards were killed, and another was injured. Our comrades Zilan and Delal, to avoid capture by the enemy and in the spirit of Apoist self-sacrifice, detonated their hand grenades and joined the ranks of the martyrs. We will reveal their records later.

The attacks in Haftanin occurred in this manner, and due to the conditions of war, information was delayed. Whoever attacks the Kurdistan Freedom Fighters, whoever they may be, the Guerrilla Fighters have the right to defend themselves against these attacks. In particular, Iraqi forces and the Kurdistan Democratic Party forces in the region, which are not part of the Turkish state's operational plans, should not attack our forces. If they do, our forces will respond as necessary within the framework of self-defense. We are aware that some forces seek to act in Iraq's name and wage war against our Guerrilla Fighters in the region. The concerned forces should be aware of this.

In the Martyr Delil Region, West of Zap:

On February 7, at 22:30, our forces in the Berxwedan area of Sergli targeted helicopters with heavy weapons twice.

Attacks by the Turkish occupation army:

Between February 5 and 9, Turkish warplanes bombed the resistance areas of Berbizinê, Lolan, Martyr Sharif, Kendkola, and Kosin in the Khakurk region 16 times. They also bombed the areas of Kon hill, Dashta Kafya, Yekmal, Dêreşê, Berkar, Meje, and Miran in the Garê region 24 times. In the Metina region, they bombed Berxwedan in Beshili and Serê Metina 3 times. In the Martyr Delil area, West of Zap, they bombed the resistance area of Bahar hill 7 times.

In total, Turkish warplanes bombed these areas 50 times.”
