Homes, civilian sites militarized in Sheikh Maqsoud- Ashrafieh

As part of a series of violations committed by factions affiliated with the transitional government, these factions have converted many civilian facilities into military positions.

Among the civilian facilities confirmed to have been turned into military sites are: the Syrian-French Specialized Hospital, Al-Kalima School, Abdel Latif Naanaa School, Iskenderun School, Ali Nidal Dwaya School, Astorian Hospital, Ibrahim ibn Al-Adham Mosque, the Aleppo Directorate of Agriculture building, and Saeed Mosque.

Industrial facilities were not spared either, as dozens of factories around the two neighborhoods were turned into military positions, with weapons deployed on their rooftops.

Factions affiliated with the transitional government in Syria have also evacuated some civilian homes in the Syrians’ Quarter adjacent to Ashrafieh and converted them into military positions an act that contradicts the applicable laws and violates the agreement between the two parties.

Our agency’s camera was able to document the conversion of several civilian facilities into military positions, most notably civilian homes located around Al-Awarid Road, Astorian Hospital, the Directorate of Agriculture building, and Saeed Mosque.

These violations coincide with continued military mobilization around the two neighborhoods, the forced evacuation of many civilians whose homes are located nearby allegedly for the purpose of looting and the presence of armed reconnaissance drones observed in the skies over the neighborhoods at the time of preparing this report.
