Hevi Suleiman: Aim of attacks is to undermine agreements

Hevi Suleiman, the co-chair of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, revealed the situation in the neighborhoods, stating, "For nearly four months, there have been continuous movements by the mercenary factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense of the Transitional Government, aimed at creating chaos, panic, and instability."

Suleiman pointed out that the situation in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods has been the same since the attacks on October 6th. She said, "These mercenaries have been stationed around the neighborhoods since those attacks, with their heavy weapons, with the goal is launching attacks against the neighborhoods. This is conclusive proof that they do not want security and stability to prevail in Syria."

Suleiman noted that "the objective of these mercenaries is to undermine the March 10th Agreement signed between the Autonomous Administration and the Interim Government. These mercenaries see the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods as a weak link; therefore, they launch attacks and wage a war against the two neighborhoods. The response of the residents of the two neighborhoods and the Internal Security Forces has been appropriate to those attacks."

She made clear that the attacks that the two neighborhoods were subjected to on December 22 were within the aforementioned framework, and said, "These attacks are illegitimate and illegal, and there is no law that legitimizes the attacks against civilians."

Hevi Suleiman; the co-chair of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, refuted the narrative promoted by the Transitional Government and its affiliated factions, and said, "They claim that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are launching attacks. We say that the Transitional Government knows very well that, according to Article 6 of the April 1st Agreement and in the presence of representatives of the Transitional Government and the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces withdrew from the two neighborhoods with their military equipment towards the North and East Syria Region."

Hevi Suleiman emphasized that the Internal Security Forces and the residents of the two neighborhoods are the ones protecting them.

Hevi Suleiman addressed the agreements reached to establish a ceasefire and de-escalation, saying, "The agreements were violated on December 22nd. The two neighborhoods and civilians are being continuously targeted with gunfire, and drones are constantly hovering over them. We say here that their goal is not the stability of the region or reaching a lasting agreement for stability."

Hevi Suleiman added, "We affirm that these attacks are illegitimate, and these groups are taking orders from the Turkish occupation state, while Turkey does not want security and stability to prevail in the region."

Hevi Suleiman praised the resistance of the people and the Internal Security Forces, saying, "For fourteen years, the struggle of the residents within the neighborhood has continued. The residents have defended their existence in the darkest of circumstances, and now supplies are being prevented from entering the two neighborhoods. We call on our people to continue their struggle against the special warfare being waged against the two neighborhoods."

Hevi Suleiman indicated that these factions are trying to undermine security and stability, and spread false claims in order to empty the two neighborhoods of their inhabitants. She added, "The resistance continues, and it is the agreements currently being made in Damascus with the Autonomous Administration that are disturbing these mercenaries."
