Several areas of Syria, including the city of Hasakah and its countryside, experienced heavy rainfall and a rainstorm that damaged a number of camps and shelters housing displaced people from Serêkaniyê, amid difficult humanitarian conditions and urgent calls for assistance.

At the Serêkaniyê Camp and Washokani Camp in Hasakah, rainwater flooded dozens of tents and damaged them. The Kurdish Red Crescent provided medical services to displaced residents and worked to move affected families into buildings within the camps to ensure their safety.

The Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and the Hasakah Brigade also intervened to assist displaced people affected by the rainfall, helping evacuate affected families and provide them with assistance as adverse weather conditions continued.

In the village of Tel Fweidat in the countryside of Tel Tamr, rainwater entered the homes of displaced people from Serêkaniyê living in shelters, causing damage and adding to residents' suffering. Families appealed to the relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene and provide their basic needs.

One displaced woman described the difficult conditions families face inside the camps, where rainwater seeps into and floods their tents. The Serêkaniyê Displaced Persons Committee called for the process of returning displaced people to their areas to be accelerated, as difficult humanitarian conditions persist and their suffering in displacement camps continues to worsen.

Meanwhile, the relevant authorities announced the suspension of classes at all public and private schools in the governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Hasakah and Raqqa on Thursday, 29 October 2026, for one day due to prevailing weather conditions and to ensure students' safety.

Displaced people from Serêkaniyê living in shelters in Hasakah renewed their urgent appeals to the relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene following damage to dozens of tents caused by heavy rainfall. They called for suitable shelter and the provision of basic necessities amid what they described as a dire humanitarian situation.
