Drivers of internal transport minibuses in Hasakah went on strike today in protest against the suspension of subsidized diesel supplies, directly affecting transportation within the city.

Several drivers said they stopped working because of rising operating costs following the suspension of subsidized diesel supplies.

They stressed that continuing to work amid rising fuel prices had become a major financial burden.

The strike led to a decline in public transportation and congestion on several streets and at waiting areas, making it difficult for residents to get around, particularly employees and students who rely heavily on public transportation.

The drivers are demanding the resumption of subsidized diesel supplies to allow them to return to work and curb rising transportation costs and their impact on drivers and residents.

Meanwhile, the Hasakah Directorate of Fuel said the quantity of fuel allocated to the city that has arrived so far is insufficient.

It said distribution would not take place until the full allocation for the city is received.
